South Beer Farmhouse is a traditional Victorian property built towards the end of the 1890s on the lands originally owned by Sir Hugo de Bere here on the North Devon/Cornwall border. It is located away from any roads along a quiet country track at the heart of Beer Mill Nature Trails.
With high ceilings, bright, airy rooms and many large windows offering wonderful views over open countryside and farmland this large holiday home is ideal for weekend getaways, family gatherings and long summer holidays. South Beer sleeps 8 +2, is pet friendly and is open all year.

Accommodation and features:
Large south facing sitting room with original polished wooden floor, rugs, slate fireplace housing log burner (first basket of logs supplied), 2 sofas, armchairs and comfy cushions, 42” flat screen Panasonic TV with built in freeview, DVD (small selection of films), reclaimed pine coffee table and bookshelves (varied selection of modern and classical fiction (swap or takeaway and leave a charity donation).
Sitting room 2 with south and east facing windows, leather sofa and quality double sprung mattress sofabed, built in cupboards, decorative fireplace and smaller TV and video/dvd, reclaimed pine coffee table, selection of children’s story and picture books/toys and a range of puzzles/games to keep all ages occupied.
Separate dining room will seat up to 10 guests comfortably at a reclaimed pine refectory table on an oak laminate floor with original fireplace and clome oven (no longer in use). Radio/CD music player.
Throughout the house we have added Fair Trade, locally purchased furnishings and fittings and house plants to add a home from home feel to South Beer.

| There is a fully fitted and equipped kitchen at South Beer including 12 place dishwasher, built in double oven/grill, separate electric hob with extractor fan, built in fridge, microwave, a complete set of stainless steel saucepans (from stockpot to milk pan) and cookware, professional standard crockery and an excellent range of utensils, cutlery and glassware.
An additional utility area includes a full size upright Miele fridge/freezer
A spacious shower room and toilet with full laundry facilities is now housed in the former dairy

| South Beer has 4 bedrooms with extra beds for flexible family sleeping arrangements: 2 double bedrooms (1 with foldaway bed suitable for a child) and 2 twin rooms (1 with single sofa bed)
All beds have quality orthopaedic mattresses and duck and goose down quilts with cotton protectors. Bed linen is provided and is either polycotton or luxury organic cotton as items are replaced.
All bedrooms have original polished floorboards and rugs
Spacious upstairs bathroom includes bath with overbath shower, toilet, wash basin and heated towel rail.
There is full central heating throughout South Beer from highly efficient oil fired boiler with thermostatic controlled radiators in all rooms (central heating is turned off during summer months)
Solar panels assist with providing hot water all year round and high levels of insulation, all A rated domestic appliances and recycling facilities all help to minimise the carbon footprint of your holiday.

South Beer Farmhouse stands in its own large, private, enclosed garden with patio area to the South, mature shrubs and plants and lawns all around. There are 2 eco friendly picnic benches , a garden seat for gazing out across the fields from, a removable laundry drier, bbq, outdoor hose for washing down surfboards and outdoor equipment and discreet recycling bin/shelter. There is a small wildlife pond and well both covered but children should be supervised.
There is a large open sided barn for parking and storage exclusively for the use of South Beer guests with off road undercover parking for several vehicles. Pubs, shops and restaurants are all within 3 miles short drive.
Guests have access to neighbouring fields and wildlife nature walks from the garden gate and guided walks can be arranged. Please see Nature Trails page for more details.
Pets are welcome with some common sense rules – maximum 3 small dogs or 2 larger dogs.
